A professor at K-State, Dr. Mike Ribble, has developed a plan for Digital Citizenship. Dr. Ribble separates the rights and responsisbilities of every digital citizen into nine themes.
Nine Themes of Digital Citizenship
1. Digital Etiquette : electronic standards of conduct or procedure .
Use discussion to make nice remarks about someone, not nasty remarks.
Never put negative stuff on DEEREgalaxy.
Don't get into a fight over something on DEEREgalaxy.
Never tell anyone your username or password.
Never delete a web page in the Navigation area.
Never log in as someone else when you are editing DEEREgalaxy.
Always remember you are editing this website to the world, not just our class.
Be a good online citizen and do not do anything that hurts other people or is against the law. Never give anyone someone else's address, last name, or where they live.
3. Digital Literacy: process of teaching and learning about technology and the use of technology.
Always give ideas to other members of DEEREgalaxy.
Always remember, if you have a question ask Mrs. Hibbs or Dr. Edwards. Don't make a new page without permission.
Don't add any youtube video's.
You can show family and friends about DEEREgalaxy and let them look around the site, Don't sign other people in and allow them edit DEEREgalaxy. REMEMBER NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION.
4. Digital Access : full electronic participation in society.
I will tell my parents/teachers right away if I come across any information that makes me feel uncomfortable.
I will not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I get a message like that. If I do I will tell my parents/teachers right away so that they can contact the service provider.
Never put your first and last name on DEEREgalaxy with a photo of yourself. It is more important than inserting your first and last name on DEEREgalaxy.
Never let any one trick you into giving you address or phone number.
Never allow anyone to put your address or phone number on DEEREgalaxy.
Do not put a class picture on DEEREgalaxy without Mrs. Hibbs' permission.
Do not put your picture online.
I will not give out personal information such as my address, telephone number, parents’ work address/telephone number, or the name and location of my school without my parents’ permission.
