The population is 38,025,000 people. The official language is Polish. The basic type of money is zloty. One- hundred groszy equals one zloty. The citizens of Poland eat a variety of foods including hogs, rye, barely, potatoes, sugar beets, and wheat.
The national flag of Poland has two equal horizontal stripes of red and white. The red represents blood shed for freedom, and the white stands for freedom. During the rein of Poland’s kings, a white eagle was in the central point of the flag. Warsaw, the largest organizational of the Mazovia region, is located in central Poland. 90% of this city was destroyed in World War Two. John Paul 2 was probably the most famous Pole ever, he was born in 1920 in a little town named Wadowice. By being elected pope by the Catholic Church in 1978, he became the first non/Italian Pope in 455 years. These Popes modernized the papacy and increase his reach worldwide though enormous gatherings of Catholics and frequent consultations with heads of state. John Paul died in 2005.
